CSXT ready to roll out new online shipping instructions tool

advertisement

During the next two months, CSX Transportation will roll out an easier-to-use shipping instructions tool on its ShipCSX Web site for carload customers.

Based on customer surveys and input, the tool is designed to enable shippers to submit electronic shipping instructions with little prior instruction; receive real-time confirmation that shipping instructions have been successfully submitted and real-time notification if data errors are detected; correct or cancel shipping instructions; save frequently entered instructions as templates; use a "Quick Ship" form and templates for repeat shipments; view the status of instructions; and print or email multiple copies at a time.

The redesigned tool will prevent processing and shipment delays caused by incorrect or incomplete data submitted in shipping instructions, which the Class I converts into a waybill and freight bill, CSXT officials said in a prepared statement.

After phasing in the tool for carload customers, CSXT plans to roll out a new online shipping instructions application for intermodal shippers.
