CSXT to accelerate train speeds through Ohio town
advertisement
CSX Transportation June 26 announced plans to increase train speeds through Ivorydale, Ohio, from 20 mph to 35 mph beginning July 2.
CSXT averages 75 trains daily on the line, which includes four busy Ivorydale grade crossings.
During the past year, CSXT improved the track and installed crossing signals to support faster trains, which would enable the Class I to improve its operating efficiency and minimize delays for motorists.
Operation Lifesaver, a nationwide public-education program aimed at reducing crossing accidents, began a local campaign designed to alert residents about the speed increase.
