advertisement
CSX Transportation Dec. 10 announced plans to adopt a uniform 50 mph speed limit for trains operating through Falkville, Ala., effective Dec. 17.
Trains running through Falkville currently are subject to a 50 mph speed limit between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. Central time, and a 40 mph limit between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. Central time.
CSXT plans to improve its operating efficiency by increasing daytime train speeds while minimizing motorists' delays at three highway-rail grade crossings along the Morgan County, Ala., line.
