CSXT tries to sweeten bulk food moves through mail marketing

advertisement

CSX Transportation Sept. 18 announced plans to launch "Taste the Savings," a direct-mail marketing campaign designed to entice food manufacturers to use the railroad's service to move their basic ingredients, such as sugar, flour and corn syrup.

The Class I expects to mail marketing materials to more than 1,200 manufacturers between late September and early November.

Since improving its service post-Conrail, CSXT has been promoting its transloading, warehousing and industrial development services to receivers of inbound bulk food items that aren't rail served.

To prompt replies, CSXT is offering a weekend at West Virginia's Greenbrier resort to a randomly-selected direct-mail responder.
