advertisement
Although the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has proposed service cuts and fare increases of late, the authority registered a ridership increase during 2005’s first four months.
Ridership rose 3.7 percent compared with the same 2004 period — the authority’s highest January-to-April gain since 2001.
In April, ridership rose 6.7 percent compared with April 2004. Ridership increased 6.5 percent, 5.8 percent and 10.1 percent on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, respectively. On weekdays, CTA provided more than 1.5 million rides, a 93,000 ride increase compared with the same 2004 period.
