CTA makes West Side service improvements permanent
advertisement
It's official. The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has permanently adopted a set of service improvements for the West Side/West Suburban Corridor that first were introduced in 2006 as part of a pilot program.
Under the program, CTA launched the Pink Line, which operates from the 54th/Cermak station to the Loop elevated line. The authority also increased service on the Green Line, Forest Park and O'Hare branches of the Blue Line, and several bus routes. Since the service changes were introduced, rail ridership on the West side has skyrocketed 19.4 percent and bus ridership has jumped 14 percent.
