CTA renovates two more Brown Line stations

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has reopened the 13th rehabilitated station — and soon will reopen the 14th — as part of the Brown Line capacity expansion project.

Last week, the authority unveiled the new Irving Park Station. The station is ADA accessible and features new elevators, accessible turnstiles, brighter lighting, new signs and a bike rack. CTA also reconfigured platforms to accommodate eight-car trains. The agency plans to reopen a similarly renovated Damen Station on Dec. 19.

The $530 million Brown Line capacity expansion project calls for rebuilding 18 stations.
