CTA to hike fares Jan. 1

On Thursday, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will implement a ticket price hike approved in November as part of the 2009 budget.
Base fares will increase between 25 cents and 50 cents, depending on the fare media used. One-day passes will increase from $5 to $5.75; three day passes, from $12 to $14; seven-day passes, from $20 to $23; and 30-day passes, from $75 to $86.
