CTA updates public on station renovations, Brown Line project

Yesterday, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) held community meetings to discuss proposed renovations to the Brown Line’s Chicago, Armitage and Sedgwick stations.
Officials also outlined the Brown Line capacity expansion project, which includes rehabilitating 18 stations, lengthening station platforms to accommodate eight-car trains, improving Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility, upgrading or replacing traction power, and reducing slow zones. The authority already has begun upgrading the line’s signal and communication equipment.
Running between downtown and Chicago’s northwest side, the more than century-old Brown Line is CTA’s third-busiest rail line, serving more than 66,000 passengers daily.
