The city of Calgary, Alberta, recently awarded a $99 million contract to Siemens Transportation Systems Inc. to provide 33 SD160 light-rail vehicles for Calgary Transit.
The agency needs the additional cars to accommodate ridership growth.
Featuring alternate current (AC) propulsion, the vehicles will be built at Siemens’ Sacramento, Calif., plant. Siemens will begin delivering the vehicles in fall 2006.
