California voters approve transportation improvement measures

Yesterday, a majority of California voters answered the call for an improved transportation system. Voters approved Propositions 1A and 1B, which were part of the Rebuild California Plan — the largest-ever ballot measure dedicated to transportation, housing and flood-control projects.

Proposition 1A will mandate that the state motor vehicle fuel sales tax be used only for transportation improvements. A $19.9 billion bond measure, Proposition 1B will provide funds to help the state improve highways, freeways and local roads, reduce air pollution and improve port security.
