The Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board recently renewed its contract with Amtrak, which operates Caltrain commuter-rail service between San Francisco, San Jose and Gilroy, Calif.
The $180 million, three-year contract includes two one-year options, and incentives for on-time performance and customer satisfaction.
Amtrak — which has operated Caltrain service since 1992 — provides on-board services, equipment and track maintenance, and dispatching and administrative support for the commuter railroad.
