advertisement
Yesterday, Canadian transportation officials became the first passengers to ride the Canada Line as part of a trial run from Bridgeport Station to the Vancouver International Airport Station.
Train testing on the airport segment is almost complete, and testing currently is under way on the Richmond and Vancouver sections of the line. Scheduled to be complete in 2009, the 11.8-mile Vancouver-to-Richmond, British Columbia, line is expected to carry 100,000 daily passengers by 2010.
Canada Line Rapid Transit Inc., a subsidiary of the South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority, will operate the line. Other project partners include the Government of Canada, province of British Columbia and Vancouver Airport Authority.
