Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
The Canadian Railway Hall of Fame is accepting public nominations for 2005 inductees in the leaders, heroes, communities and technologies categories until Aug. 12. The hall plans to announce inductees in September.
“The inductions … showcase the role that freight and passenger rail plays in Canada’s economy,” said Bruce Burrows, acting president and chief executive officer of the Railway Association of Canada — which helped establish the virtual, Web-based hall in 2002 — in a prepared statement.
2004 inductees included former Canadian Prime Minister Sir John MacDonald, former Canadian National Railway Co. President and CEO Ron Lawless, intercolonial railway telegrapher Vince Coleman and retired railroader James Sirois.
