Chicago-area transit agencies form coalition to improve regional transportation

Traffic congestion in the Chicago area continues to rise, and transit agencies’ resources can’t keep pace. That’s why the Regional Transportation Authority, Chicago Transit Authority, Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corp. and Pace bus service formed Moving Beyond Congestion, a group that aims to solve funding challenges, ensure financial viability and accountability, and meet the region’s transportation needs.

The coalition met earlier this week with more than 100 area government, business, labor, education, tourism and community leaders to build bi-partisan support for transit expansion projects.
