Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
China’s Ministry of Railways (MOR) recently purchased 20 additional Trackside Acoustic Detection Systems (TADS®) from the Transportation Technology Center Inc. (TTCI). The ministry currently uses 27 TADS to inspect journal bearings and other freight-car components.
TTCI won the contract through its Chinese TADS® product partner, Harbin VEIC Technology Co. The systems will be installed by early 2007.
Meanwhile, TTCI President Roy Allen last month met with MOR Vice Minister Wang Zhiguo to discuss a number of issues common to North American and Chinese railroads, such as wayside train inspection technologies, heavy axle loads, intermodal, hazardous materials transportation and emergency response training.
