For the fourth year in a row, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) set a ridership record on its San Francisco International Airport (SFO) extension during the Christmas travel season, logging 62,400 passengers between Dec. 21 and Dec. 27.
The new record represents a 20 percent increase compared with the same 2006 period, when 52,000 people used the SFO line, and 56 percent increase compared with the 40,000 riders who used the line in 2003 (the SFO extension’s opening year).
