The Railroad Research Foundation (RRF) has appointed Sharon Stewart Cole senior program director and assistant secretary of the board.
She will be responsible for realigning the current RRF organizational structure to “prepare for increased projects and funding opportunities,” foundation officials said in a prepared statement. Cole also will provide overall leadership and direction, serve as the primary management point of contact with all sponsoring federal/state agencies, and guide the program management and oversight of RRF’s funded projects and proposal submissions.
She has more than 20 years of experience in sponsored research programs management, including posts at major research institutions, such as the University of Houston, and the Nevada Cancer Institute. Cole also previously was a contractor for the National Institute of Standards and Technology and an internal auditor for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas.
