Conexus Indiana plan calls for logistics, transportation upgrades in Hoosier State
advertisement
Last week, Conexus Indiana released a plan aimed at leveraging Indiana’s “crossroads of America” position in the global supply chain by improving logistics and transportation systems statewide.
A manufacturing and logistics initiative dedicated to making Indiana a global leader in high-tech industries, Conexus Indiana focused the plan on infrastructure, logistics, public policy and workforce development.
The report resulted from a two-year study conducted by the Conexus Indiana Logistics Council Executive Committee, a group of 36 executives representing all sectors of the logistics industry, including rail, truck, air, warehousing and distribution. The committee identified several areas that could be improved in the state, such as transportation bottlenecks in key regions, a lack of intermodal rail services and inefficient connectivity between modes. Potential solutions outlined in the plan include the development of large intermodal/multi-modal facilities and infrastructure improvements in bottleneck areas.
Next year, Conexus Indiana plans to release a second phase of its plan, which would recommend ways to improve financing mechanisms for infrastructure upgrades and set long-term goals.
