Conrail recently contracted Duos Technologies Inc. to provide a security surveillance and video system for the railroad’s New Jersey yard.

Duos will supply a turnkey system featuring state-of-the-art surveillance cameras in combination with PRAESIDIUM™, the company’s proprietary rule-based intelligent video and multi-source platform.

The system will provide live video streams to monitor rail-car movement and use video analytics to automatically detect and issue an alert when a car is improperly positioned on track. In addition, the system will provide 24/7 security surveillance and digital recordings of key yard areas.

Conrail is the terminal and switching agent for its owners, CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railway, in the Shared Assets Areas in New Jersey, Philadelphia and Detroit. The area was created in 1999 as part of the Conrail integration.
