Lafarge North America Feb. 27 announced plans to build a 750-ton cement terminal in Eugene, Ore., that would be served by Burlington Northern Santa Fe.
Spokane, Wash.-based Haskins Construction, which is the project's general contractor, expects construction to start in spring and conclude in summer.
Lafarge officials believe the new terminal will provide better service to West/Central Oregon customers, according to a prepared statement. The company named Oregon resident Dave Zeis manager of the cement terminal.
Lafarge, part of Lafarge Group, supplies cement, aggregates and concrete, and other materials for U.S. and Canadian residential, commercial, institutional and public works construction projects.
