Containerization & Intermodal Institute hands out 2005 'Connies'

Yesterday, the Containerization & Intermodal Institute (CII) presented 2005 Connie Awards to National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) Executive Vice President Peter Gatti Jr., U.S. Maritime Alliance (USMX) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer James Capo, and Hapag-Lloyd America President Rudiger Mack. The awards recognize individuals who demonstrate leadership in furthering containerization and intermodalism.
Gatti has served NITL the past 19 years in various capacities, including EVP and VP of international policy. Currently maritime committee vice chairman for the International Chamber of Commerce, he previously served as director/counsel for governmental relations for the American Association of Port Authorities.
Head of USMX, an alliance of carriers, stevedores and port associations in the East and West coast regions, Capo previously served as the organization’s president. He also served a stint as president of New York Shipping Association Inc.
Hapag-Lloyd president since 1999, Mack is responsible for the Western Hemisphere for Hapag-Lloyd Container Line GmbH. He has served Hapag-Lloyd since 1972 in various capacities.
CII is a trade association serving all modes involved in international containerization and intermodalism. More than 30 people have received Connie Awards since the association was founded in 1960.
