Cubic-led consortium to bid on Denmark smart-card system
advertisement
Cubic Corp. European subsidiary Cubic Transportation Systems Ltd. and global outsourcing company EDS have been pre-qualified to submit a bid on a system designed to link all of Denmark’s rail and bus operations to a national "smart card."
The bid would include system design, development, project management, delivery, installation, operation, maintenance and financing.
The Cubic/EDS consortium plans to include Siemens Transportation’s Denmark division as a major subcontractor for the system. The consortium is one of seven contractors invited to bid on the system by Rejsekort A/S — comprising the Greater Copenhagen Authority, Danish State Railways, the Association of County Councils and Orestad Development Corp. — which is overseeing the smart card initiative.
Rejsekort expects to award the contract in 2005. To be phased in beginning in 2006, the smart card system would be available nationally in 2009.
