Cubic Transportation Systems Inc. recently opened a Beijing, China, headquarters.
The automatic fare-collection systems supplier opened Cubic Transportation Systems (Beijing) Co. Ltd. so it can play a more active role in what Cubic officials termed "the world’s fastest developing market."
"Transport operators in China are seeing the need to make their ticketing and fare collection systems more streamlined and efficient, and as a result, we see tremendous opportunities to introduce our expertise," said Cubic Transportation Systems Chairman Walter Zable in a prepared statement.
Beijing currently is improving its passenger-rail system as it prepares to host the 2008 Olympics.
