Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
The Czech Rail Administration recently awarded a $153.5 million contract to a Skanska Czech Republic-led consortium to rebuild 15 miles of mainline between Cervenka and Zabrehna Morave in the central Czech Republic. Skanska will receive 60 percent of the contract amount as lead contractor for the consortium, which also includes Subterra and Leonhard Weiss & Co.
To be completed in October 2008, the project includes building a new bridge, reconstructing 24 bridges, constructing five viaducts and installing a noise barrier along a 2.5-mile line segment.
Financed by the European Union Cohesion Fund and State Transport Infrastructure Fund, the project will enable the Czech Rail Administration to increase train speed up to 95 mph and improve safety.
