DART to update residents on planned projects
advertisement
This month, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) plans to hold several public meetings to update area residents on planned transit projects.
DART officials will present a Southeast Corridor Light Rail Transit project update, including the project status and construction schedule. The light-rail system will be extended from downtown Dallas to Fair Park, South Dallas and Pleasant Grove. The project’s final environmental impact statement (FEIS) was completed in October.
Officials also will discuss the Northwest Corridor Light Rail Transit project — designed to extend light rail from downtown Dallas to Farmers Branch and Carrollton — updating residents on the project status, construction schedule and opportunities for public involvement. The FEIS was completed in October.
Finally, officials will present findings of an East Corridor Major Investment Study, which evaluated alternative transportation improvement strategies based on community involvement. The study area includes parts of Dallas, Garland, Mesquite, Rowlett and Sunnyvale in east Dallas County. Officials will discuss transportation alternatives and recommendations for improving mobility in the corridor.
