The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently announced the final awards for the fiscal-year 2007 Transit Security Grant Program, which is part of the Infrastructure Protection Program.
The agency will award a total of $14.2 million to 24 “Tier II” urban areas and $8.3 million to Amtrak. In January, DHS released $141 million in security grants for the eight highest-risk Tier I urban areas.
