Last month at its 36th biennial convention, the National Association of Retired & Veteran Railway Employees Inc. (NARVRE) elected Thomas Dwyer as national president and Richard Renz, national vice president. They will succeed A.W. "Whitey" Westphal and George Wisdom, who have served as national president and national vice president the past 16 and 12 years, respectively.
NARVRE members also re-elected incumbent Mary David as secretary-treasurer.
Since 2000, Dwyer had served as national legislative director for the Transportation Communications Union (TCU). He will be succeeded in that post by Gary Faley, TCU's state legislative director in Michigan.
Founded in 1937, NARVRE aims to protect the rights of railroad retirees. The organization has 157 local units in 38 states.
