Greenstone Holdings Inc. recently received an initial order of 500 gallons of crosstie treatment chemicals from ECORail Products Inc., which is building a railroad tie treatment facility in Kentucky.

ECORail plans to produce and market a BLACKBEAUTY™ line of environmentally friendly wood ties, bridge components and rail-car decking for the North American railroad industry. In May, the company will begin shipping ties, which will be treated with a borate-based preservative solution and undergo a specialized treating process, ECORail said.

“The railroad industry needs a longer-lasting wood railroad tie, and especially one that is safe for the environment,” said ECORail Chief Executive Officer B. Allen Brown in a prepared statement.

ECORail is a part of Railmark Holdings Inc., which also owns and operates the Michigan Air-Line Railway Co. (formerly Coe Rail Inc.), and provides track construction and maintenance, and rail-freight logistics services.
