The United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence recently awarded a $56.7 million "Strategic Rail Capability and Mainline Rail-Freight Services" contract to EWS Network.

Under the four-year pact, EWS Network will supply locomotives to pull the ministry's fleet of rail cars and provide maintenance services. Each year, the ministry completes about 8,000 car movements on Britain's rail network to transport armored vehicles and various materials.

EWS Network provides rail operation services to the rail, intermodal and logistics industries in the U.K.
