Eaton to succeed Ballesteros as KCSM's top sales/marketing officer; Emery assumes AVP role at KCSR

Yesterday, Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V. (KCSM) announced that David Eaton will succeed Gloria Ballesteros as leader of the sales and marketing department, effective Nov. 1. Senior vice president of sales, marketing and asset management, Ballesteros will assume an active consultancy role with the railroad to spend more time with her family, according to KCSM. She will remain in her current position until year’s end and assist in Eaton’s transition.

In addition to leading sales/marketing and service design functions, Ballesteros oversees customer service and network services. Currently VP of sales and marketing, Eaton will focus on the sales and marketing department, provide transitional leadership for KCSM’s corporate affairs and right-of-way protection department, and coordinate efforts with Kansas City Southern’s U.S. sales and marketing team.

Eaton, who joined KCSM in 2005. previously was a partner in Monterrey Business Consultants and managed a NAFTA legal “think tank” at the Technological Institute of Monterrey.

Meanwhile, KCS promoted Donald Emery from general director to assistant VP of labor relations for subsidiary Kansas City Southern Railway Co. He reports to SVP of Human Resources John Derry.

Emery previously was corporate VP of workforce development for YRC Worldwide. He has 30 years of leadership experience in labor relations and human resources, and 17 years of experience as a chief negotiator and company spokesman.
