Yesterday, National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) member and former Chairman Ellen Engleman Conners left the agency to become executive vice president and chief executive officer of the Indiana Association of Realtors.

Since joining the board as chairman in March 2003, Engleman Conners helped reduce the number of open or non-implemented safety recommendations to the lowest level since 1975.

In December, Engleman Conners withdrew her nomination for a second term as board chairman. Her term as a board member would have expired Dec. 31, 2007.

Prior to the NTSB, she served as administrator of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Research and Special Programs.
