The Eurail Group G.I.E. sold 374,000 rail passes in 2005, a 24 percent increase compared with 2004. The company — which offers rail tickets via authorized sales agents outside of Europe — also posted revenue of $154 million, a 19 percent increase compared with 2004.

The most popular ticket: The Eurail Select Pass, which offers unlimited rail travel in up to five countries. To meet market demand, the company recently introduced the Eurail Regional and Eurail National passes, designed for travelers who want to see a specific area or country in a shorter timeframe.

Eurail expects to sell even more passes in 2006. European tourism is expected to rise more than 3 percent, according to the company.
