The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and International Union of Railways (UIC) recently signed an updated memorandum of understanding to cooperate on technical issues and the development of European rail industry standards, and avoid research duplication.
CEN currently is trying to standardize track, vehicles and noise reduction procedures. CEN and UIC officials have agreed to exchange documentation and expertise, and work together to ensure product and service interoperability. CEN already has used or referenced parts of UIC documents, including draw gear research.
