FRA provides $1 million for Vermont Railway track project

The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) recently awarded a $1 million grant to Vermont Railway Inc. to help fund track improvements between Burlington and Middlebury, Vt.

The 127-mile short line will replace 3.2 miles of track, repair drainage ditches, remove brush and resurface grade crossings. To be overseen by the Vermont Agency of Transportation, the track upgrade will improve freight-rail and Amtrak operations, the FRA said.
