Yesterday, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) awarded a $2.3 million grant to Rutgers University’s National Transit Institute (NTI) to help support public transportation training and education programs — the 12th year the institute has received federal funds.

"The training and development provided by the National Transit Institute is an investment that leads to opening new markets, applying innovative technologies and forming productive relationships for transportation programs of the future," said FTA Administrator Jennifer Dorn in a prepared statement.

NTI develops and conducts training sessions and education programs for transportation employees at the federal, state and local levels. The institute also supports several FTA training initiatives, including management, supervision, advanced technology, workforce safety and security, and multi-modal planning courses.
