Farm2Rail proposes multi-loop rail facility in Minnesota

Farm2Rail Inc. recently announced it’s in the preliminary stages of developing a 300-acre, multi-loop rail facility near St Charles, Minn. The facility will provide shippers in southeastern Minnesota better access to “the economic and environmental benefits of shipping agricultural-related freight by rail,” Farm2Rail officials said in a prepared statement.
Ag products could be moved in unit trains with up to 110 rail cars, saving shippers time and money, they said.
“We are working with several companies who are interested in this rail facility and see the need for unit trains in the St. Charles area to move products more effectively and efficiently,” said Ed Berens, one of Farm2Rail’s partners. “In addition, we are looking forward to working with the city of St. Charles, its township and Winona County during the permitting of this site for loading and unloading local products.”
