Ferus Natural Gas Fuels, ENN Canada to build LNG plants in Vancouver and Edmonton

Ferus Natural Gas Fuels and ENN Canada Corp. recently formed a joint venture to build, own and operate two liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction plants in Canada.

To be located in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Edmonton, Alberta, the plants will serve the on-road trucking market, as well as other high-horsepower applications, such as rail, marine, mining, and oil and gas exploration. 

"These projects will help build the market for clean-burning natural gas as a transportation fuel," said Alberta Energy Minister Ken Hughes in a prepared statement. "It is another step on the road to finding new uses and new markets for our abundant natural gas resources here and in British Columbia."

Both facilities will be designed to produce 100,000 gallons of LNG per day, with the ability to expand as demand grows. The parties are expected to select a site within the next six months. The facilities are expected to begin producing the first product in 2016, according to a press release.

Ferus Natural Gas Fuels specializes in building and operating cryogenic and micro-LNG plants and distribution equipment. ENN Canada — which is building LNG refueling infrastructure throughout the country — is experienced in the construction and operation of LNG stations, and provides assistance in acquiring and transitioning to natural gas vehicles.
