This week, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will conduct a three-day pilot project in seven cities to test the administration’s response to a security threat.
Today through Friday, TSA will send federal air marshals, surface transportation inspectors and canine teams to various transit providers, including Amtrak, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, Metrolink and Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.
“This pilot … will expand TSA’s security network and better prepare the agency to adapt security measures to a specific threat,” said TSA Assistant Secretary Kip Hawley in a prepared statement.
