Florida Northern Railroad Co. Inc. (FNOR) recently filed an exemption notice with the Surface Transportation Board to lease from CSX Transportation and operate a total of 70.7 track miles in Florida.
The 27-mile short line plans to lease and operate CSXT’s Newberry Line between High Springs and Newberry, and Dunnellon and Citronelle, as well as a short segment of connecting track in Newberry.
Owned by Pinsly Railroad Co., FNOR interchanges with CSXT in Ocala, Fla. The short line was formed in 1988 after acquiring a line from the Class I.
