Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Foundation Coal Holdings Inc. recently acquired reserves, equipment and assets — including a new rail loading facility — adjacent to its surface mine in Wyoming County, W.Va. The acquisition will enable the company to produce 720,000 additional tons of coal annually.
The unit-train loading facility, which became operational earlier this year and is served by CSX Transportation, will reduce per-ton trucking costs, Foundation Coal Holdings said. The company also ships coal on unit trains operated by Norfolk Southern Railway.
