Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Last week, MultiModal Applied Systems Inc. announced French freight railway Fret SNCF has licensed and begun implementing MultiRail® Enterprise Edition software to help plan freight-rail operations.
Fret SNCF pans to use the software in its “Plan de Transport” system, which controls rail-car movements systemwide. The Enterprise Edition is MultiModal’s latest update to its 12-year-old MultiRail suite of rail planning software.
Currently, a MultiModal consulting team is in Paris helping Fret SNCF officials implement the software, which will take six months to complete. Team members are customizing Enterprise Edition and translating the software into French, training Fret SNCF users and integrating the software with the railway’s existing computer systems.
France’s largest and Europe’s second-largest freight railway, Fret SNCF plans to completely phase-in the software by June’s end.
