Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Earlier this week, Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority proposed its fiscal-year 2005 budget.
The $221.5 million operating budget calls for cutting 77 jobs, and adjusting several routes to better meet demand and eliminate service duplication. The $137.5 million capital budget includes funds to construct or rehabilitate six rail stations.
The authority does not plan to raise fares during the fiscal year, but projects generating $38.1 million in fare revenue, which would increase 2.4 percent compared with a FY2004 estimate.
GCRTA officials expect the board to adopt the budget at its December meeting.
