GE TIP unveils asset-tracking program

advertisement

GE TIP recently introduced a new trailer management system designed to enable fleets to pinpoint trailer locations.

GE VeriWise asset-tracking program uses a dual satellite network to automatically locate trailers both inside and outside the United States at
regular intervals. Trailers also can be electronically contacted.

The program is designed to improve asset utilization and operational flexibility, and also identifies idle trailers that can be placed in revenue service, according to a prepared statement. The system consists of a transceiver and battery pack mounted together in the trailer nose behind a plywood panel, and a low profile antenna, which is placed on the upper right front panel below the rail. Component installation can be performed at customer sites or at a local TIP facility.

A unit of the General Electric Co., GE TIP provides over-the-road trailer services and manages a 125,000-plus-unit fleet.
