On Nov. 4, GE Transportation Systems Global Signaling L.L.C. (GETS-Global Signaling) announced plans to acquire ScadaNET Network™ and CellularRTU™ remote-monitoring systems from LaBarge Inc. for $5.3 million cash and the assumption of $1.5 million in liabilities.

GETS-Global Signaling will incorporate the technology into GE On-Site(SM), a 24x7 remote alarm-monitoring system, said Chief Engineer William Scheerer in a prepared statement.

Under separate agreements, LaBarge will continue to produce ScadaNET hardware, and provide GETS-Global Signaling back-end network services until GE integrates the systems (by June at the latest).

ScadaNET Network is a wireless data communications system designed to monitor remote sites 24 hours a day via the Internet, and notify statuses or send alerts to an unlimited number of recipients via e-mail, cell phone, pager and fax.

CellularRTU is a family of multiple-channel, Web-accessible remote terminal units designed to monitor grade crossings and other remote sites.
