General Motors Corp. recently named Union Pacific Railroad and CSX Transportation two of 70 2002 "Supplier of the Year" award winners.
Created in 1992, the awards recognize suppliers' performance in quality, service, technology and price.
Transportation provider for all of GM's western U.S. finished vehicles, UP earned its second-straight award.
"We share a long association with GM, and are honored that GM has again
recognized our efforts with this special award," said UP Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dick Davidson in a prepared statement.
CSXT was recognized for its efforts in providing GM timely parts.
"Winning this award is an indication of the quality of our employees' work, and their dedication to providing our customers safe [and] consistent service," said CSX Corp. Chairman and CEO, and CSXT President Michael Ward.
