Gannett Fleming Engineers and Architects P.C. recently received a Gold Award in the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York’s 2006 Engineering Excellence Awards competition for an asset management database created for MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR).
Gannett Fleming worked with the railroad’s information technology group and maintenance staff to develop the database, which enables LIRR to better manage equipment assets, plant maintenance and capital budgets.
The company assessed 963 pieces of LIRR equipment, and nine maintenance facilities and yards. The assessment determined the equipments’ expected remaining life, calculated major repair or overhaul costs and recommended a 20-year equipment replacement or overhaul schedule.
