General Mills to build rail-served distribution center in Georgia

Rockefeller Group Development Corp. (RGDC) recently obtained a contract from General Mills Inc. to construct a 1.5 million-square-foot, rail-served distribution center in Social Circle, Ga.

RGDC will build the facility — to be located 50 miles east of Atlanta — on a 130-acre site served by CSX Intermodal. The center will include more than 25,000 square feet of office space to accommodate General Mills' administrative operations.

Site work is under way and the project is slated for completion in second-quarter 2010.
