Genesee Valley Transportation promotes Chesier, appoints Blount

Genesee Valley Transportation Inc. (GVT) recently promoted Gregory Cheshier from director of transportation to vice president of operations. He has more than 35 years of railroading experience, including a stint with the Erie-Lackawanna Railway.

The company also named David Blount director of business development. A third-generation railroader, he most recently was a regional sales manager for Trailer Transport Systems Inc. Blount also has more than 35 years of railroading experience, including various positions with Penn Central Transportation Co., and an operational and sales position with Conrail.

GVT operates more than 300 miles of track in the two states. The company’s short lines include the Depew, Lancaster & Western Railroad; Falls Road Railroad; Mohawk, Adirondack & Northern Railroad; and Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad.
