Genesee & Wyoming's carloads climbed in October

Today, Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWI) reported October traffic volume of 72,246 carloads, up 15.5 percent compared with October 2009’s level.
The primary drivers: increased coal, coke and ores traffic, mainly in the Illinois and New York/Ohio/Pennsylvania regions, and higher farm and food products volume, especially grain shipments in the Australia Region.
GWI owns and operates 62 regionals and short lines in the United States, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands.
